In recent years, the output value of the plastic mold industry has been decreasing year by year, and the annual demand for molds has dropped to around 410 billion yen. Experts believe that the Japanese mold industry has reached a point where reform is necessary.
Japan's plastic mold production capacity accounts for about 40% of the world's total, ranking first in the world. However, since the peak output value of 1.87 trillion yen in 2000, there has been a decline. It is not uncommon for mold factories to be eliminated during a downturn, with manufacturers, employees, and business scale significantly shrinking. Compared to the peak period, the current number of manufacturers has decreased by about 8.5%, the number of employees has decreased by about 30%, and the decline rate of output value has reached about 11%. In addition, due to the large-scale development of the plastic mold industry in other countries and regions in Asia, the increase in cost or technological competitiveness has forced Japan's mold prices to decrease by about 20%.
In the total domestic output value, the output value of plastic molds is 642.8 billion yen, ranking first, accounting for approximately 38.8% of the total mold output value. Plastic molds are used in various industries, and in recent years, especially in the rapidly growing information technology industry, they have developed rapidly. However, they still cannot change the declining trend of the mold industry. The relocation of major customers in industries such as automobiles and semiconductors has forced Japan's mold industry to shift its focus to overseas operations. And factors such as high-tech technology and increasingly strict quality requirements have made the Japanese plastic mold industry even worse.
To overcome this dilemma, experts suggest that in addition to putting more effort into high-precision machining technology, how to distinguish it from general molds;
Nowadays, a large number of plastic molds in China are constantly emerging with strong and high-quality companies. The quality of plastic products such as anti-static turnover boxes, plastic pallets, and plastic boxes in China is constantly increasing, and the prices are not as expensive as imported ones. Therefore, more people are willing to choose domestic brands.
